Happy New Year to our Healing Odyssey Difference Makers! 2018 was a great year for HO, thanks in great part to all of you. You helped us fill two great retreats and financially supported us so that we could continue to offer these retreats for FREE. In addition, we were able to have a very successful Wine, Women & Song (and Men, too) fundraiser, thanks to the time and talents of Joji Angeline and her wonderful group of music professionals. Many thanks to grad Susie Garrison for her hard work in heading that event. Our Fall fundraiser, Giving Tuesday, was very successful and puts us in good financial shape for the new year. In addition, grad Etsuko Hide. volunteering to help with grant writing, has been instrumental in bringing in $10,000 in grants, with more under consideration. Thank you, thank you!
We hosted lots of opportunities for grads new and old to gather and have fun together at HODM meetings, parties and dinners. We created a new Grad Retreat last year that was held at Pali. We added the new Pop Up dinners this past summer and fall, continuing our goal to be an ongoing source of both support and fun for our grads and their families.
We are proud to offer our new Crafts Catalog on our website! This gives our grads and other supporters an opportunity to share their creations with the world and benefit HO at the same time. Please check out the catalog on the website and support our crafters.
We look forward with great expectation to all that is ahead of us in 2019. The Spring retreat 4/26-28 is almost full. If you know of anyone who is waiting to attend, please refer them to the website to register asap.
January 10 at 1 pm is our first planning session for our Spring fundraiser, Wine, Women & Song II, at Debbie Belsher’s house in Lake Forest. Let us know if you would like to be a part of the planning committee. We need you!
For the quarterly HODM meeting on Sunday, 2/10, we will gather at the Roskamp’s home in Dana Point. Save the date for this opportunity to gather together. We are finalizing details on the program for that meeting.
On Saturday, 4/6, we will hold our community fundraiser, Wine, Women & Song II. This afternoon of wine, food, and wonderful music is an opportunity to invite our families and friends to join us in a lovely afternoon, and help support our mission. If you missed it last year, be sure to check it out this year.
The rest of the year will include some of the most popular yearly events such as the Beach Party and the Holiday Party, with other fun surprises thrown in. We are open to new ideas if you want to participate or host an event. So, get ready to have fun and build a caring community of cancer survivors in 2019! We look forward to working, playing and helping others together. Wishing you all a healthy, happy and fun-filled 2019!
